Born on September 12, 1961, Denis Richard is known as one of the greatest singer-songwriters in Acadia. In addition to his first album “C’est mieux comme ça” (1996), which contains Acadian song classics such as “Petit-Rocher”, he has written songs for the theater, cinema as well as for records for Zachary Richard, Jean-François Breau, Roch Voisine, Annie Blanchard and others. He has also released two albums for plays, “Laurie our la vie de galerie” and “Les Défricheurs d’eau”. Having devoted himself to his acting profession for a few years, his return to music was highly anticipated. Since his release in Acadie in the summer of 2015 and in Montreal as part of the Coup de coeur francophone in November 2015, his 4th album “Chansons et autres flâneries …” has had great success, both in sales and in the charts.
In August 2016, he toured 8 shows in Quebec in the first half of Jacques Michel tour, a moment he cherishes. Jacques Michel says this about Denis: “But that’s not all! This tour will have allowed me to discover a very talented Acadian singer-songwriter Denis Richard. Denis was the first part of this show. His songs are pearls: beautiful texts, beautiful melodies. He is an excellent guitarist and he is as good a actor as a musician. Looks like this guy is born with all the talent. I invite you not to miss his show if he is showing near you; you will not be bored! “
Denis passed away August 28th, 2017 in Moncton.
